You have no choice but to lock your doors when you’re home, but if you do, you may want to consider the locksmith’s advice.
The locksmith, who works at the San Francisco International Airport, says that if you don’t lock your door and don’t put your key inside, you could be left vulnerable to a burglar.
“There’s a lot of people who don’t do their homework, and that’s because they don’t have good training or they don.
That’s one of the big things that we’ve seen is, lock down, and lock the door and then when the burglar gets inside, they can’t get in,” says Janice F. Gee, president and CEO of the International Lockdown Association.
Gee says that locking your door, or locking your keys, could help keep burglars out of your home.
“Lock down, you can be safe.
And then you’re going to have the most secure lock you can possibly have, and it’s going to lock down until you can get out and get away from them,” she says.
So what does the locksman say?
Lock down your home, he says, or lock your keys.
Gees advice isn’t limited to San Francisco.
Gees says that he’s seen it happen in cities across the country.
“I’ve seen in places like Cleveland, New York City, in San Francisco, that people lock their doors.
You’ve got to lock them down, but it’s really important to lock it down so they don´t have access,” he says.
Fellow locksmith and president of the San Jose locksmiths union, Tom Toms, agrees.
“There is a danger with lockdowns.
It’s very important to be safe,” he said.
“We’re always looking for ways to increase security, and locking down doors and lock down the entire home is just one of those ways we can do that.”
The International LockDown Association says it is working with local governments to develop solutions to lockdowns in their cities.
And if you’re in a pinch, you might want to use some of the solutions at your disposal.
“In the San Franciscan, I-80 corridor, we have a lockdown that we are working on right now with the city of San Francisco to try and make our streets safer, to try to get people out of their cars and to put locks on their doors,” Gee says.
