A locksmith from Ohio has been dismissed after posting on Instagram that he was fired for “disrespectful of a fellow lockmith.”
John Moore told WLWT that he received an email from the Lockmiths Association of Ohio on Monday informing him that he had been terminated from his position.
Moore told the station that the email he received was addressed to him from an administrator at the Lockmakers Association of America.
“The person said that my job has been terminated because I posted something that I disagreed with,” Moore said.
“It was a private message that was addressed from a company administrator, and that’s how they felt.”
Moore said that he did not receive a letter explaining his termination, but he was informed by the association that he would have to leave the organization within 30 days.
“They said that I would have 30 days to vacate my position, and it was only after I left that I received this letter,” Moore told the WLTV-TV affiliate.
“I thought that was pretty shocking.”
Lockmakers Association spokesperson, Lisa Siegel, said that Moore’s termination was not related to the group’s membership.
“Mr. Moore has a long and distinguished career of service and integrity,” Siegel said in a statement.
“Mr. Hausman and his colleagues are all passionate about keeping locksmiths safe and the Lockmaker community is proud of the fact that they have been able to provide quality services for nearly 60 years.”
Moore told WLBZ that he feels bad for the organization because he was not given an explanation for the firing, and was not told why his job was terminated.
“We didn’t know what was going on.
We had no idea how they were going to feel about it,” Moore added.”
I feel really bad for all the people that worked on that project, and we were all really excited to get to work.
It was just a great project.
We’re really proud of it.
We were really excited that it came to fruition.”
The Lockmaker Association of Oklahoma did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
